The 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech is one of the most popular private Morocco tours linking the two imperial cities. This unforgettable journey allows you to discover the beauty of southern Morocco, from the Middle Atlas Mountains to the golden dunes of Merzouga and across the High Atlas to Marrakech.
Along the way, you will visit Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland,” explore the cedar forest of Azrou, ride camels in the Erg Chebbi dunes, and spend a magical night under the stars in a luxury Sahara desert camp. You will also discover Erfoud’s fossils, the dramatic Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou (UNESCO site), and the cinematic city of Ouarzazate before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech.
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel/riad in Fes. Travel across the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane and the cedar forest of Azrou to see Barbary macaques. Continue via Midelt for lunch, then drive through the Ziz Valley with panoramic views before reaching Merzouga. At the edge of the desert, your camel awaits to take you into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset camel ride before arriving at your desert camp. Dinner, Berber music, and a night under the starry sky in a luxury tent await you.
Wake up early to watch the magical Sahara sunrise, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return by camel or 4×4 to meet your driver. Continue to Erfoud, famous for fossils and marble workshops, then head to Tinghir to explore its palm groves and the dramatic Todra Gorges.
In the afternoon, drive through the Dades Valley, famous for its scenic gorges and Berber villages. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad/hotel at Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, travel through the Rose Valley and Kalaat M’gouna, known for its annual rose festival. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit its film studios. Explore the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in many films including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Finally, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass with photo stops before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
