The 4 Days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour is the best way to experience the magic of Morocco’s Sahara. From camel trekking over golden dunes, stargazing in a luxury desert camp, and enjoying Berber music around the fire, this journey combines adventure, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. This tour is perfect for travelers who want to arrive in Fes and depart from Marrakech (or vice versa). While it is possible to do the trip in 3 days, we recommend 4 days / 3 nights to fully appreciate the desert and the highlights along the way.
Depart Fes after breakfast and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland,” then continue to the cedar forest of Azrou to see Barbary monkeys. Drive via Midelt (famous for apples) and the Ziz Valley before arriving in Merzouga desert.
Meet your camels and trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch the sunset. Arrive at the desert camp, enjoy Berber music by the fire, dinner, and a night under the stars.
Wake up early for sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast. Today is dedicated to discovering the life around Merzouga: visit nomad families, learn about their traditions, and enjoy the Gnawa music in the village of Khamlia. Explore the desert landscapes, seasonal lake, and Berber markets. Return to the desert camp for your second night in the Sahara with dinner, music, and stargazing.
After breakfast, leave the desert and head to Rissani, where you’ll explore its traditional souk famous for dates and the local “Berber pizza” called Madfouna. Continue via the Ziz Valley to Tinghir, then visit the spectacular Todra Gorges with its towering cliffs and palm groves.
Drive to Boumalne Dades, known for its dramatic valley and Berber villages. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad/hotel near the Dades Gorge.
After breakfast, travel through the Rose Valley and visit Kalaat M’gouna, famous for its rose products and annual festival. Continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit its film studios.
Explore the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and backdrop for many famous films Gladiator, Game of Thrones. After lunch, drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
