You’ll also enjoy guided visits in Fes and time to connect with Morocco’s history, architecture, and traditions.
Upon arrival at Fes airport, you will be greeted by your driver and transferred to your hotel or riad. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to enjoy a first stroll through the lively medina, discovering its charming alleys and colorful souks. Dinner and overnight in Fes.
The second day is entirely dedicated to exploring the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. With your local guide, you will discover the old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and visit historical highlights such as the Bou Inania and Attarine madrasas, the Karaouine Mosque and University, and the famous Chouara Tanneries. You will also see the Royal Palace gates, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), and enjoy a panoramic view of the city before returning to your accommodation for the night.
After breakfast, the adventure towards the desert begins. You will travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping first in Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style houses and clean streets. Continuing to Azrou, you will pause in the cedar forest to see the Barbary macaques. After a lunch stop in Midelt, known for its apple orchards, the road continues through the breathtaking Ziz Valley with its endless palm groves and kasbahs. By late afternoon, you will reach Merzouga, where a camel caravan will take you into the dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch the sunset before reaching your desert camp. Dinner, traditional music, and an unforgettable night under the stars await you in the Sahara.
This day is dedicated to experiencing the magic of the Sahara. After watching the sunrise over the dunes and enjoying breakfast, you will embark on a 4×4 desert tour to explore the surrounding villages and landscapes. You will visit Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa music, meet nomadic families, and, depending on the season, see the salt lake of Dayet Sriji where flamingos often gather. The afternoon is free for relaxation, or you may opt for activities such as quad biking or sandboarding. Overnight once again in the desert, where silence and starlight create a unique atmosphere
